The recall affects 3,509,532 bags of Deep-brand PREMIUM Select Tapioca (Cassava) Diced, with a net weight of 12 oz. (340 g). The affected lots include: 24354, 25023, 25045, 25071, 25086, 25095, and 25142. It was distributed across the United States.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
